FOTONA SWEEPS®
FOTONA SWEEPS® WORKSHOP
October 19 14:30 – 18:00
ENDODONTIC WORKSHOP
SWEEPS® technology represents a breakthrough method for 3D cleaning and disinfection of the root canal system. Er:YAG laser technology is used to activate the commonly used irrigants in endodontics (NaOCl and EDTA) with the laser tip kept stationary in the access cavity of the tooth while simultaneously irrigating the whole root canal system at once. By using synchronized pairs of ultra-short pulses, an accelerated collapse of laser-induced bubbles is achieved, leading to enhanced shockwave emission even inside the narrowest root canals. SWEEPS® endodontic laser treatment successfully addresses a major disadvantage of classical chemo-mechanical treatment procedures which is the inability to completely clean, debride and disinfect anatomically complex root canal systems.
PERIODONTAL WORKSHOP
Modern periodontal therapy deals with effective managementl of infected soft and hard tissues during surgical or non-surgical therapy. There are various benefits of the combined use of laser-assisted methods of periodontal treatments. The Er:YAG laser is used for concrement and calculus ablation while removing the smear layer, bacteria, endotoxins and lipopolysaccharide on the hard root surface, and the elimination of granulomatous tissue. The Nd:YAG laser is an indispensable tool to initially decontaminate the pocket. In addition to direct laser therapy, cavitation-induced biofilm removal, can also be used for non invasive, non-surgical removal of biofilm and calculus. The addition of SWEEPS® photoacoustic irrigation to classical laser periodontal tretament represents a modern solution for cleaning and disinfecting of periodontal pockets.
